New really tiny µTorrent hardware!
In µTorrent 1.8.2, support for embedding the URL to a torrent, RSS feed or .btsearch file into the executable was implemented.
This allows for a site to give users a customized µTorrent executable with one of the three URL types embedded. When the user downloads and runs the executable, after installation is complete it will begin downloading the embedded URL and add it to the client as appropriate.
We provide a bundling script that will give a URL for the user to download your customized executable. Please link users to the URL instead of providing the executable directly from your website to avoid needing to update your executable to the latest version. A form is provided below to generate this URL. All that is required is the type of URL and the URL itself. The URL can be HTTP or HTTPS. FTP is not supported at this time.
After the executable is run, the URL is scrubbed from the executable to avoid it being re-added repeatedly (if the user removes it from their client). However, if µTorrent is being run in standalone mode, the scrubbing process does not happen.
The resulting bundled executable is unsigned, so Windows will give a notice that the publisher could not be verified when the user tries to open the executable. This is a non-fatal dialog.
